Job Summary
The Transition Accountant is responsible for managing the orderly and accurate financial transition of newly acquired properties. This role oversees portfolio assignments ranging from 5–15 properties, coordinates bank setup and system configuration, loads financial data, communicates with prior management companies, and resolves accounting discrepancies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, customer-focused, and capable of working independently in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a transition portfolio of approximately 5–15 properties
Complete full financial transition of assigned properties, including system setup and bank account openings
Load initial Trial Balance and Budget into accounting systems
Upload resident lists, balances, billing setup, and order coupons/welcome letters
Coordinate vendor billing updates and change of address notifications
Research and resolve accounting discrepancies with prior management companies
Assist with contracts, proposals, and marketing reports
Maintain new property and marketing reports
Review incomplete financial data to build accurate base financial records
Qualifications
Solid understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Experience handling multiple properties or client portfolios preferred
