Job Description
Under the supervision of the Finance Director, the Finance Supervisor leads daily finance operations, supervises assigned staff, and ensures compliance with internal controls and funder requirements. This role collaborates with Budget & Planning teams, program managers, and donors to support accurate financial reporting and strong fiscal stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Reporting
Oversee day-to-day finance tasks: AP/AR, invoicing, payments, CIK transactions, and account coding
Manage month-end and year-end closing activities according to policies
Prepare and submit financial reports, donor invoices, and budget-to-actual analyses
Conduct variance analyses and review financial transactions for accuracy
Team Leadership & Supervision
Direct and supervise finance staff: assign work, set objectives, provide coaching, and conduct performance reviews
Support staff development and training initiatives
Compliance & Controls
Ensure adherence to donor requirements, internal controls, and organizational policies
Lead or assist with internal audits and support compliance reviews
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Partner with Budget & Planning teams, program leads, and internal stakeholders on financial questions and reporting
Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and cross-departmental initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
Completion of at least 2 accounting/bookkeeping courses; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field strongly preferred
3+ years of accounting experience, nonprofit/grant-funded environment preferred
Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience
Strong organizational, time-management, and analytical skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel (advanced), and financial software
