Job Summary
The Cost Accountant supports financial and operational reporting within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maintaining standard cost systems, analyzing COGS and manufacturing variances, supporting ERP-driven reporting, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. The position works cross-functionally with sales, operations, and leadership to ensure accurate costing, margin analysis, and inventory reporting while driving process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in developing, maintaining, and analyzing standard costs
Partner with sales to provide cost data for pricing and quoting decisions
Improve costing processes through cross-functional collaboration
Prepare and distribute manufacturing reports including gross margin, yield, and aged inventory
Maintain monthly gross margin reporting
Prepare month-end journal entries (COGS, E&O, PPV, and other manufacturing accounts)
Complete balance sheet reconciliations related to manufacturing accounts
Calculate and record quarterly labor and overhead capitalization
Perform monthly obsolescence analysis with Controller/CFO
Analyze COGS accounts monthly
Support external and internal audits
Manage cycle count process and inventory adjustments
Support GL accounting including AR posting, collections, and bank reconciliations
Maintain and monitor product costing systems
Extract and analyze ERP data in Excel for reporting
Assist with budgets, forecasts, and capital expenditure tracking
Identify and implement process improvement opportunities
Perform special projects and additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required
Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing accounting or related capacity
Experience recording journal entries and reconciling balance sheet accounts
Strong understanding of manufacturing variances and cost analysis
Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
ERP system experience required
Cross-cultural communication skills highly desirable
English and Mandarin bilingual a plus
