Position Overview:
The Senior Tax Manager plays a critical leadership role by managing complex tax engagements, strengthening client relationships, ensuring technical accuracy, developing staff, and supporting firm growth through quality service and business development efforts—all while maintaining confidentiality and high standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships to support long-term retention.
- Communicate directly with clients to ensure their best interests are prioritized.
- Perform final technical reviews of tax returns and supporting documents.
- Research complex tax issues and provide informed recommendations.
- Stay current on developments in tax law and accounting procedures.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage client engagements to meet deadlines.
- Direct and support staff by setting objectives, monitoring budgets, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Oversee quality control and evaluate team performance.
- Manage and track tasks and projects assigned to staff and supervisors.
- Play an active role in mentoring and developing staff and supervisors.
- Build and leverage internal and external networks to support business development.
- Manage billing, collections, WIP monitoring, aging, and write-downs.
- Participate in and help facilitate internal training and CPE programs.
Qualifications:
- CPA certification preferred.
- Prior business development experience in a CPA firm is preferred.
- Minimum of ten years of public accounting experience.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and strong staff development skills.
- Strong decision-making capabilities with initiative and independence.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a heavy workload.
