Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Tax Supervisor to join a growing public accounting team in a hybrid role designed to support work/life balance while offering opportunities for advancement. The ideal candidate is ready to shift into deeper tax planning, review returns prepared by staff, contribute to research projects, and increase direct client involvement. This role is suited for someone who enjoys leading teams, motivating others, and working across multiple industries such as manufacturing, distribution, technology, software, staffing, nonprofit organizations, professional services, and high-net-worth individuals. Strong proficiency in corporate, partnership, and individual taxation is required, with additional exposure to international, SALT, or estates and trusts considered beneficial.
Responsibilities include:
Gathering information necessary for preparing tax returns, protests, briefs, memoranda, and reports.
Identifying non-routine tax issues and recommending solutions.
Communicating professionally with clients, tax authorities, and internal stakeholders.
Reviewing returns prepared by staff and preparing complex returns when needed.
Overseeing the preparation workflow and assisting staff with resolving tax issues.
Keeping management informed about engagement progress and addressing technical or scheduling concerns promptly.
Preparing performance reviews and participating in staff training.
Providing feedback and direction to ensure continued team improvement.
Maintaining strong working knowledge of applicable tax codes and regulations.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting (required).
Minimum of three years of public accounting experience (required).
Master’s degree in taxation or MAcc with tax focus (highly preferred).
CPA credential preferred but not required.
