Role Overview
In this critical role, you will act as the financial expert for a designated portfolio of commercial properties. You will ensure accurate and timely monthly reporting, maintain general ledgers, oversee lease and CAM processes, and collaborate with property managers to enhance operational efficiency and client reporting quality.
Key Responsibilities
Review and research property management transactions, including charges and billing adjustments
Analyze tenant lease language and ensure accurate system input
Maintain and review Rent Roll, Tenant Ledger, Aged Delinquency, and Lease Expiration reports
Manage cash, accrual, tax, and GAAP-based general ledgers
Prepare and record journal entries
Prepare and distribute monthly financial reporting packages and variance analyses
Reconcile all balance sheet and general ledger accounts
Oversee and understand CAM reconciliation processes
Collaborate on annual operating budgets
Prepare construction project draws and reconcile job costs/intercompany balances
Handle partnership accounting, including contributions, distributions, and sales/acquisitions
Review AP invoices and cash receipt batches for accuracy
Monitor cash requirements and prepare funding requests/distributions
Support team initiatives and special projects
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s a plus)
CPA or CPA candidate preferred
5+ years of direct commercial property accounting experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP and property accounting practices
Excellent communication skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
