Job Summary / Description
The Supply Chain / Operations Finance Analyst is a hands-on plant finance professional responsible for ensuring accurate and timely recording of material, inventory, and logistics transactions across operational systems. This individual contributor role partners with Materials & Inventory, Warehouse, Logistics, Engineering, and Finance to reconcile physical movements with system data and financial records.
The role also supports product costing, month-end close, KPI reporting, and ad-hoc operational analysis to drive informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Material Transaction Management
Monitor material movements including receipts, issues, transfers, adjustments, and shipments.
Ensure transactions are accurately recorded across operational systems and reconciled to the ERP system of record.
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, variances, and transactional errors.
Support cycle counts and physical inventory reconciliation.
Systems Reconciliation & Data Integrity
Perform reconciliations between operational systems and ERP to ensure accuracy.
Identify root causes of data mismatches and reduce recurring issues.
Maintain documentation of transaction flows and internal controls.
Assist with system updates, testing, and process improvements related to inventory accounting.
Product Costing & Financial Support
Support standard cost maintenance, cost roll-ups, and variance analysis.
Partner with Operations and Engineering to ensure BOMs, routings, and labor standards are accurate.
Analyze material, labor, overhead, and scrap variances and summarize key drivers.
Assist with month-end close activities including inventory valuation, WIP, and COGS.
Cross-Functional Operations Support
Provide transaction reporting and financial insight to Warehouse and Logistics teams.
Ensure shipping, receiving, freight, and transfer transactions are properly recorded.
Support operational initiatives with financial analysis related to material usage and throughput.
Operations Performance & Analytics
Maintain and distribute KPIs related to inventory accuracy, cost performance, and operational efficiency.
Perform ad-hoc analysis supporting continuous improvement and decision-making.
Support audits, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field.
2–5 years of experience in operations finance, supply chain finance, inventory accounting, or manufacturing analytics preferred.
Manufacturing or distribution environment experience strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
ERP experience required (Great Plains strongly preferred).
Familiarity with shop-floor or manufacturing systems preferred.
Strong Excel and data analysis skills; experience working with large datasets.
Working knowledge of inventory accounting and product costing structures.
