Position Overview

The Controller will serve as the senior accounting leader for a growing construction firm, ensuring accurate financial reporting, disciplined job costing, and strong internal controls while partnering closely with project managers and executive leadership.

This role requires a hands-on construction accounting professional who understands WIP reporting, AIA billing, and operational financial strategy in a fast-paced project-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage month-end close, general ledger integrity, and timely financial reporting.

• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and detailed variance analysis.

• Perform job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and AIA billing oversight.

• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures.

• Collaborate with project managers and senior leadership to support financial strategy and project profitability.

• Coordinate external audits, tax filings, bonding, and insurance requirements.

• Supervise accounting staff and ensure accurate payroll and benefits reporting.

Qualifications

• Strong background in construction accounting required.

• Advanced proficiency with Sage 300 (Timberline) and related ERP tools.

• CPA preferred but not required.

• Thorough knowledge of GAAP and construction industry compliance standards.

• Excellent communication skills with proven cross-department collaboration ability.
