Position Overview:
The Tax Senior Manager – High Net Worth plays a strategic and high-visibility role in CRI’s expanding HNW initiative. This is not traditional production work; instead, it blends technical tax expertise with assessment, orchestration, and relationship navigation. You will evaluate incoming high-net-worth referrals, determine the right partner or office placement, facilitate seamless handoffs, and occasionally manage engagements directly. This role is ideal for a seasoned HNW professional seeking meaningful work beyond the busy-season grind—where judgment, communication, and client experience shape the client journey and influence firmwide strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and evaluate incoming HNW client referrals to assess complexity, timing, fit, and service needs.
- Determine the appropriate partner or office to serve each client and coordinate seamless handoffs.
- In select cases, manage HNW engagements directly within the corporate team.
- Serve as a relationship navigator between wealth advisors, firm leadership, and nationwide tax teams.
- Prepare and conduct initial reviews of 1041 trust and estate income tax returns.
- Prepare fiduciary accountings with familiarity of state statutes and related documentation.
- Analyze complex tax issues and provide well-reasoned conclusions.
- Perform diversified tax and accounting assignments under senior leadership.
- Demonstrate high-level technical proficiency and adherence to firm standards.
- Meet all workload and client deadlines consistently.
- Participate in and help lead training initiatives to develop technical skills across the team.
- Deliver exceptional client service with accuracy, attentiveness, and responsiveness.
- Build and maintain strong client and referral relationships.
Qualifications:
- Fiduciary experience required; law firm or trust department experience considered.
- 8+ years of experience preparing and reviewing 1041, 706, and 709 returns, plus high-net-worth 1040 planning affecting estate and gift taxation.
- Experience with GST filings, including Forms 706-GS(D) and 706-GS(T), preferred.
- CPA required; additional designations strongly preferred: EA, CFTA, CFP, PFS, or PFP.
