Controller (Construction)

Who:
A growing construction organization is seeking an experienced Controller with a strong background in job costing and financial management within the construction industry.

What:
The Controller will oversee all accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and cost control related to foundation and construction projects.

This is an immediate hire for a full-time, permanent position.

The role is based in Union City, with work tied to an active foundation construction project.

Office Environment:
This role operates in a hybrid environment with time split between the office and project sites.

Salary:
Competitive salary ranging from $110,000 to $140,000 plus bonus and benefits.

Position Overview:
The Controller will play a critical role in managing financial health, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making across construction projects.

● Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting functions including AP/AR, payroll, and general ledger

• Manage job costing, WIP reporting, and project financial tracking

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls

• Collaborate with project managers to monitor budgets and forecast costs

• Lead audits and coordinate with external accounting partners

• Develop and improve financial processes and reporting systems

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• 5+ years of accounting experience in construction or related industry

• Strong knowledge of job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting

• Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation) preferred

• Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills
