Position Overview:
The Senior Property Accountant ensures accurate and timely financial reporting for an assigned portfolio of properties. This role includes managing the full accounting cycle, preparing monthly financial packages, supporting CAM reconciliations, assisting with budgets, and providing analysis to property management teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Complete full-cycle accounting for assigned properties.
Prepare monthly financial statement packages, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and supporting schedules.
Collaborate with property management to analyze financial performance and prepare budgets.
Support the preparation and review of CAM reconciliations.
Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports and analyses.
Review payables, process invoices, and post cash receipts as needed.
Manage cash accounts and ensure timely payments of expenses, taxes, and distributions.
Prepare and submit sales and use tax returns, as applicable.
Interact with clients, property managers, and internal teams regarding financial issues.
Mentor junior team members and assist with transitioning project assignments.
Ensure compliance with SOC I requirements and company policies.
Contribute to special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
3–8 years of relevant accounting/reporting experience; real estate industry experience strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgets, and CAM reconciliations.
Proficiency with Yardi and/or MRI accounting software (intermediate level).
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving ability with initiative in routine and moderately complex issues.
Highly organized with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
